It's Always a "J"
If you ask most people for their name, you’ll get one of two responses: a first name only… or a first and last name. Every now and then you’ll get first, middle, and last.
But that’s rare. And I think it’s a sign of arrogance. Why the hell would I care what your middle name is? Unless, of course, you think I just should know it. Ya know… cause you’re that special.
What’s even more strange are the people that throw in the middle initial. They either like the way it sounds or they think that you’re asking for a full, sprawling name… but don’t want you to know what the middle name is.
And I’ve noticed something about these middle initial people. “J” seems to be a favorite single-letter middle name. Ted J. Smith. John J. Turnbuckle. Iqubar J. Shamilian.
You never hear someone say, “Hi… my name is Theodore P. Cook”… there aren’t any Glen E. Moffett’s… and there certainly aren’t many Stewart Y. Bakers out there.
What makes having a “J” middle name so special that it should have attention brought to it at every opportunity?
