My Secret Admirer
I received a heart-warming email from Photobucket today. They miss me. They really want me back. And they really want to know why I left them.
Who is Photobucket again?

More Republic Tigers... Finally!
One of my favorite bands… with new tunes! I highly recommend checking out their full album, Keep Color, too. It’s a few years old now. But it’s still one of my most-listened albums.

I can’t even pretend to be surprised at what AT&T does anymore. They are a greedy, horrible company who has no problem screwing their customers over for a few bucks. Verizon is no better. Sprint may be the only one left worth doing business with.

I’m sure it’s purely coincidental that just as iMessage is about to hit in iOS 5, AT&T is removing all of their lower-priced...

Mid-week Tuneage: Save a Baby
Rdio has bestowed two new musical discoveries on me this week. I’m pretty much switching back and forth between them. Plug in your headphones and listen immediately… or I’ll smack a 16 pound baby…

We Live in Amazing Times
In the palm of my hand I hold a phone. And a communication device. And a GPS with the world’s phone book. A camera, a camcorder, and a constant link to the rest of the globe. And with it, I can listen to any song I’d ever want to. I can watch TV, movies, and music videos with it. I’m connected to every news outlet on the planet. And if I get bored, I can hurl birds at pigs with a...

The Evolving Mission of Google →
I’m not 100% sure what makes a company a “media company”. But I have yet to see any examples of Google actually creatingmedia. Their products distribute media. And they do encourage the creation of compelling content. But do they actually make any themselves? Am I missing something?
I Have Grass
Today is probably the first truly spring-like day we’ve had around here since winter made Missouri its bitch last year. I’m really looking forward to nice weather this year - because I have a yard again! I recently moved out of an apartment and back into a house.
I love spring and summer when I have things to do outside. I’m looking forward to mowing. I know, I know… by...
Who is Treewolf? And What Happened to Him/Her?!
I have no answers for those questions. But that being said…
I discovered these guys through Rdio a few weeks back. They’re a little bit different… quite a bit British (I’m assuming)… but pretty stinkin’ catchy.
Rdio Blog: Now Available: Rdio for Mac →
This is pretty sweet. Can’t wait to be able to put it on my Windows laptop, too. Rdio just keeps impressing me. Best $10 I spend a month!

Twenty Eleven
Today begins a new year. I’m not sure why, but it seems like people believe that making change is easier to do on the first day of a new year. While it should be just as easy to change our lives on the 18th of June as it is on January 1st, there’s something psychologically motivating about making resolutions of change for the new year.
So here, in no particular order, are a few of...

All Food Is Organic, You Idiots
Unless you’ve been eating Tupperware, every single person on the face of planet has been on an organic diet since birth. This whole “organic food” thing is starting to piss me off. I understand what they’re trying to say. But I wish people would just say what they mean:
THIS FOOD HASN’T BEEN TREATED WITH PESTICIDES OR FERTILIZERS. WE MIGHT HAVE POOPED ON IT, BUT...

Saying Thanks
It’s easy to forget the power of a simple “thank you”. I know I probably don’t say it enough.
I came in to work this morning and found a thank you waiting for me. Not for doing anything above and beyond… not from a supervisor or someone who’s ‘supposed’ to show appreciation every so often.
Just a short, simple message from a co-worker saying thanks...

Other than those times, I really never get sick.
Really.

Never Too Fat to Be Executed →
Back in August I pointed to a story about an inmate on death row who claimed to be too fat to be executed. CNN has the gory details of the fat murder’s crime. In a nutshell, he and a friend spent hours raping, murdering, and torturing two young women.
And then he had the nerve to try to get out of paying for his crime. In fact, he took his appeal all the way to the United States Supreme...
Through the Peephole - Presidential Debate Deux →
Mandy makes an excellent point about how our Presidential candidates are likely perceived by the American people:
Americans like pretty people. Dozens of studies have been done that show that we rate a person’s trustworthiness and overall judgment based on how we perceive their physical attractiveness. Obama is young and charismatic. McCain is not young, and while there is considerably...
DailyTech - Ford Collision Warning System Uses... →
I’m not sure I want Ford helping me when it comes to my brakes. Not only is Ford technology and reliability sketchy at best, but it’s also likely to make people even more lazy when it comes to driving.
Think about it…
If you’ve got a system in your car that’s supposed to warn you when you’re about to have an accident, are you going to be as vigilant about...

Gmail now has an optional feature that’s designed to help prevent you from sending drunken email that you later wish you could take back:
When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you’re really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the...
So Many Sirens
I’ve been at work for all of three hours and I’ve heard sirens outside six times. And not the kind coming into the hospital. The kind going by on their way somewhere else.
Police… Fire… Ambulance… I’ve heard ‘em all. Is there something going on out there that I’m not aware of?
What is it about hearing sirens that 1) automatically peaks our interest...
On Tattoos...
We were talking about them at work today. I’ve considered getting one for years. But the what and where have always stumped me.
Today I suggested to my co-workers that I get a corncob tattooed right next to my butt. That way, when people ask me if I have a corncob up my butt, I can say yes! It would certainly help explain away my sometimes surly disposition.
And then I had a great idea for...

Sucktastic Internet
MySpace launched a new music service today that could be pretty cool. But it’s hard for me to test it because of my sucktastic Internet service.
There’s some sort of update going on over at the cable company (I was redirected to a company-branded search page when I mistyped a URL the other night… it reminded me to set up OpenDNS on that computer).
Since the update started, my...
